44% - Young Adults More Image Cautious Online

While young adults are more likely to have a more active online life than are older Americans, they are also more likely to take steps to control their online reputation. Among internet users, 44% of adults younger than age 30 have limited the amount of personal information available about themselves online. This compares with just 33% of internet users between ages 30-49, 25% of those ages 50-64 and 20% of those age 65 and older. Young adults who use a social network are also more likely to change their privacy settings than are older adults with an account. Furthermore, among social network users, those ages 18 to 29 are more likely to delete unwanted comments from their profile and remove their names from photos they don't wish to be associated with than are those older than age 30. This may be because younger internet users are also generally less trusting than older users of the websites that host their content. Read more
