66% - Buy American

While the idea of requiring spending in the recently-passed stimulus plan to be limited to American-made goods and services may cause consternation among many in the media and government, it is very popular with Americans, as fully two-thirds support it. Only 24% believe 'Buy American' provisions would be a bad idea because other countries might retaliate through trade. The issue is also not politically divisive among the American public, as Democrats (70%), Republicans (66%) and independents (63%) all strongly support such measures. Read more
