The United States’ partnership with Pakistan has been described by both military and diplomatic experts as crucial to successfully battling terrorism. Very few Pakistanis, however, see America as an ally. Fully 59% describe the U.S. as an enemy. Only 11% see the U.S. as a partner, and just as few (17%) have a favorable view of the U.S. In fact, among the 22 nations included in the spring 2010 Pew Global Attitudes survey, Pakistan, along with Turkey and Egypt, gives America its lowest rating. President Obama — popular throughout much of the world — is also little loved in Pakistan; just 8% express confidence that he will do the right thing in world affairs, his lowest rating among the 22 nations.
