While 46% of U.S. Mormons say that they facea lot of discrimination, 56% believe that the country is ready for a Mormon president. These findings come from a recent, nationwide survey of Mormons.
Approximately six-in-ten Mormons (62%) say that the American people as a whole are uninformed about Mormonism. A similar number(68%) believe that the American people as a whole do not see Mormonism as part of mainstream society.
Yet most U.S. Mormons also think acceptance of Mormonism is on the rise. More than six-in-ten (63%) say that Americans are becoming more likely to see Mormonism as part of mainstream society.
