In these trying economic times, many Americans have turned to the internet for answers — fully 69% of Americans have gone online to keep up with economic news, deal with their own financial situation or discuss the economy — but with so much bad news out there it’s not surprising that many also take some time to relax while surfing the net. Among those looking for economic information online, three in four (74%) also use the internet to take their minds off their economic or financial circumstances. Listening to music and watching online videos top the list of possible Web pastimes. And though younger internet users are the most likely to enjoy these relaxing activities, pursuing an online distraction is not just a pursuit for the young.
